The realistic view

Beyond the first impression

Verified information only

A 113-room, six-floor DoubleTree opened in May 2016 in the fully renovated former Hotel Prince, directly across from the Marmaray Sirkeci station entrance and about 500 m from Hagia Sophia and Topkapı Palace. No pool and no on-site parking, but a basement hammam-and-sauna spa, a 24-hour gym and a rooftop terrace restaurant with Bosphorus views.

What it does well

  • First-time visitors who want to cover the historic peninsula on foot
  • Public-transport users: Marmaray, tram and ferries are all within a few minutes' walk
  • Families needing connecting rooms or the 55 m² two-bedroom family room

What to watch for

  • Anyone expecting a pool (there is none, indoor or outdoor)
  • Drivers: Guests arriving by car: no hotel parking, only paid lots nearby
  • Quiet seekers: Light sleepers who need total silence; Sirkeci stays busy late into the night

Mercure İstanbul Sirkeci Hotel

Istanbul · Fatih · ★★★★

A 59-room, five-floor Mercure in a 172-year-old building opposite Sirkeci's Grand Post Office, renovated and opened in 2019. The Grand Bazaar, Basilica Cistern, Topkapı and Hagia Sophia are 7-9 minutes on foot and Marmaray, tram and ferries are at the door; no pool, no parking, no pets, and quiet despite the location.

A 40-room boutique hotel in Sirkeci, opened in 2023 inside a restored 1900 Belle Époque building and run under Marriott's Autograph Collection brand. Hagia Sophia, the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Bazaar and Topkapı Palace are all within walking distance, and the rooftop Mezzepotamia restaurant looks over the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus. Location, cleanliness and an unusually strong concierge team are the main draws; rooms run small, and there is no parking and no pool.
