The realistic view
A small, 28-room, three-storey hotel on the Ahırkapı seafront, set against the Byzantine sea walls below Sultanahmet; it reopened as a Radisson in 2020 in the former Citadel Hotel building. The Blue Mosque is about 520 m and Hagia Sophia about 590 m away, parking is free with valet service, but there is no pool, spa or gym, and sea-facing rooms also overlook the busy Kennedy Caddesi coastal road.

Istanbul Airport (IST) is about 55 km away, roughly an hour by taxi depending on traffic. Sabiha Gökçen (SAW) is about 64 km away, a little over an hour via the Eurasia Tunnel. The front desk can arrange a paid transfer.
The hotel sits on Kennedy Caddesi, the coastal road at Ahırkapı, directly below Sultanahmet and right against the old Byzantine sea walls. According to the hotel, the Blue Mosque is 520 m away, Hagia Sophia 590 m, the Basilica Cistern 640 m, Topkapı Palace 920 m, the Grand Bazaar 1.4 km and the Süleymaniye Mosque 2 km. Getting up to Sultanahmet means a 10–15 minute uphill walk through the Cankurtaran streets; one guest suggests using the hotel's back door as a shortcut. Cankurtaran station on the Sirkeci–Kazlıçeşme suburban line is about 500 m (five minutes) away, and the Sultanahmet T1 tram stop is roughly 950 m, a 13-minute walk. Cafés and small restaurants are close by.
The stay
Kennedy Caddesi, the busy coastal road, runs right in front of the hotel, so the sea-view rooms also overlook traffic. One guest in a rear-facing room reported hearing no road noise; if you are a light sleeper, trading the view for the back of the building may be worth it. The hotel also hosts weddings and events for up to 200 guests in its Sur Hall, so public areas can be busier on event nights. The property is non-smoking.
Breakfast is not included on every rate; when it is extra, about EUR 20 per person has been reported. Airport transfers are available on request for a fee, listed at EUR 80 per vehicle one way. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. Deposit and prepayment rules depend on the rate you book, and prices are shown in Turkish lira.
There is no pool, spa, sauna or gym at the hotel. If you want a hammam, several historic Turkish baths around the Blue Mosque are within walking distance.

A 49-room boutique hotel in the Cankurtaran corner of Sultanahmet, opened in 2022 as Turkey's first Radisson Individuals property, with a restaurant set in a Byzantine-era cistern and a terrace facing the Sea of Marmara. There is no pool, spa or gym, so it suits travellers who plan to spend their days out sightseeing.

A 78-room Curio Collection hotel spread across 17 restored Ottoman wooden mansions wedged between Hagia Sophia and Topkapı Palace, opened in November 2019. The location is as central as Istanbul gets, but expect stairs, no elevators and golf-cart shuttles between buildings.

Opened in July 2025 as the first Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Türkiye, this 44-room boutique hotel sits on a quiet side street 100-200 m from Sultanahmet Square. No pool or spa; the draw is walkability, attentive staff and a strong breakfast.
