The realistic view
Sofitel Istanbul Taksim is a 202-room hotel a few steps from Taksim Square in Beyoğlu, opened in November 2019 on the site of the historic Maxim nightclub. A modern block sits behind the preserved façade, with 33 suites, a Club Millésime lounge, an indoor-pool spa with hammam and a rooftop bar. İstiklal Avenue, Cihangir and the Taksim metro are all within a short walk; the trade-off is street and square noise, so upper and rear-facing rooms matter if you want to sleep well.

150 m from Taksim Square and a 3-minute walk to the Taksim metro/funicular. Kabataş tram and ferry pier are 5 minutes by funicular. Sultanahmet is 30–35 minutes by tram or 15–25 by car; Nişantaşı is a 20-minute walk.
The stay
Breakfast is a buffet at La Table; Club Millésime guests can eat in the lounge. The hotel has Oven Brasserie, the Cake Box patisserie and a rooftop bar serving meze and cocktails. Cihangir's breakfast cafés are a 5–10 minute walk.
Square and street noise is the most common complaint in guest reviews; insulation is decent, but lower floors and square-facing rooms feel the night-time activity.
Breakfast is usually charged separately. City tax and spa services are extra.
Sofitel Spa has an indoor pool, seven treatment rooms, a hammam, steam room, sauna and gym. The pool is small and not suited to lap swimming.
