Rail transit · 97 m
Istanbul Airport is 40 km away, roughly 45-70 minutes by taxi depending on traffic. Sabiha Gökçen is 46 km, about 45-75 minutes. The hotel does not run a shuttle; a private transfer may be arranged but price and availability should be confirmed with the hotel.
The hotel occupies the historic Generali Han at Bankalar Street No. 9, directly opposite the Camondo Stairs. Galata Tower is 280 m (3 minutes on foot), Galata Bridge and the Golden Horn waterfront about 300 m, İstiklal Avenue 600-700 m and Galataport 750 m. Public transport: the Tünel funicular (Karaköy) is a 2-minute walk, the T1 Karaköy tram stop 3 minutes, and Şişhane M2 metro 6-8 minutes. Sultanahmet is 3-4 tram stops away; Hagia Sophia and Topkapı are 2.7 km. Sidewalks in the area are narrow and hilly, so dragging a wheeled suitcase up toward Galata takes some effort.
The stay
Bankalar Street and the Camondo Stairs are lively all day, with photographers and tourists directly outside. Hotels.com lists the rooms as soundproofed and one guest specifically noted hearing nothing from neighboring rooms. Light sleepers may prefer a rear-facing room over the street-side balcony rooms, though rear rooms can look onto the building opposite. No noise complaints have appeared in reviews so far (small sample).
A EUR 200 penalty applies for smoking in a non-smoking room. Breakfast is charged separately on standard rates. A credit-card pre-authorization or cash deposit is required at check-in for incidentals, and the cardholder must be present with matching ID. Hotels.com lists a nominal TRY 1 destination fee. Extra-person charges may apply.
There is no pool. The gym is open 24/7. The spa, branded La Calme Wellness, has a sauna, steam room and cold plunge, and the treatment menu is limited to 30-50 minute scalp/foot, reflexology and face-neck-arm massages, so this is not a full spa. No Turkish hammam is listed. One guest noted the spa looked nice but did not try it.
